The DeLong Gum Company of Boston issued this card in 1933, during McManus’s time as player-manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Marty’s baseball career
McManus played 15 major-league seasons and served as Boston’s player-manager during much of 1932–1933. He later managed the Kenosha Comets in 1944 and South Bend Blue Sox in 1945 and 1948 in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. AAGPBL biography.
